As the cats of the clans changed during their travels so did the warrior code. The code remains the same in that hunting cats must feed the clan before themselves, and stuff like that. But close contact has given the code a few additions and changes.
- Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other clans but your loyalty must remain to your clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.
- Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.
- Elders and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders.
- Prey is killed only to be eaten. Be grateful for its life.
- A kit must be at least six moons old to be an apprentice.
- Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
- A Cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
- A gathering of all four clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among clans at this time.
- Boundaries may be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
- No warrior may neglect a kit in pain or in danger, even if that kit is from another clan.
- An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense or to protect the clan.
- The word of the clan leader(s) is the warrior code.
- The rank of Leader is hereditary. It is passed down to the oldest kit of the Leader when the Leader dies. A Leader who takes a mate, makes that cat a leader too. Therefore there can be up to two leaders per clan.
- Treat royal families with respect. The royal family consists of the Leader(s) kits, parents or siblings.
- Deputy is a rank appointed by the Leader to any cat of his/her choosing. Deputies cannot succeed the Leader. Leader’s may appoint a new deputy whenever they want but there can only be 1 deputy at a time.
- Medicine cats in a clan choose their successor but a Clan Leader may overrule their decision if they believe it is a bad choice. Medicine Cats may have kits but they must make sure that someone will be able to look after the clan if they are away with their kits. The clan must come first.
- Cats may leave their clan to live with another for short periods of time with their Leader’s permission. Leaders may also purposefully send a cat to act as a diplomat.
- Cats with a Grey pelt are extreme bad luck and dangerous. Have nothing to do with them and keep them off clan lands.
