Name: Snakepaw
Gender: Tom
Age: 6 moons
Clan: ThunderClan
Rank: Apprentice
Picture:
Visage: What Snakepaw likes least about his appearance is his size. He is quite small for his age, and for a tom. He is short but heavy, small but compact. Though young he is strong with tough muscles. His face is a bit narrow but could be called sweet. His ears are tall with tips of fur and long white whiskers fan out from his nose. His eyes are his most astonishing feature. They are a deep, bright emerald green like new leaves in spring. However, they are often narrowed in concentration, suspicion, scorn or anger. They are best seen right when he is awakening and they are still peaceful and open. His eyes are incredibly expressive and in his rare moments of peace, contentment, or love they glow with color and light. Snakepaw is a ginger tabby, with fiery orange fur lightly striped with lighter and darker orange. His only patch of non-ginger fur is on his nose, which is white. On his left shoulder is the ridged and puckered scar from a snake bite, given when he was a kit. It can be seen through the parted fur on his shoulder and often makes his shoulder stiff.
Demeanor: Snakepaw is at a cross roads in his life. He has the potential to become truly great, and immensely evil. It is his clan mates who will decide where to push his fate. From his kithood, Snakekit has received only feelings of jealousy, hate, embarrassment, scorn, pain, and the desire for revenge. He is furiously determined to prove himself to his clan as well as to himself. But he is cynical, and distrusting. He thrusts away his mother's love just as much as he scorns the rest of his family. He is clever, determined, and ambitious. He has no desire to cause pain to cats who have not harmed him, but he is also vengeful of those who have. He is not forgiving or pleasant, even shunning the company of other apprentices. However, for those cats who are determined enough to drill through his sharp tongue, hurt and anger, they will find a cat who is loving, kind, shy and committed. His soul stands upon the brink of an abyss and a single push could send him either way.
Past: Both of Snakepaw's parents, Stormcloud and Thunderstrike, were apprentices of ThunderClan during the Great Journey. Thunderstrike was a massive orange tabby who showed promise as an apprentice for being a great fighter. Stormcloud was a tall black she-cat who was helpful to all of her fellow clan mates. As apprentices they quarreled with one another a lot, but when they grew older they began to realize a growing affection for one another. After they were both made warriors they became mates and the summer after that Stormcloud gave birth to two toms; Lionkit and Snakekit.
Even from the start Lionkit was bigger and stronger than Snakekit. He grew quickly and impressed their father with his boldness and energy. Snakekit was always in his brother's shadow, desperate to prove himself to their majestic father, but nothing he did ever seemed to turn Thunderstrike's pride away from Lionkit and to him. The brother's never got along. Lionkit picked on Snakekit continuously. He pinned him to the nursery floor, shoved him away from nursing and no matter how many times Stormcloud rebuked him, he would just wait for her to turn her head. Snakekit grew to hate his litter mate and used his quicker wits to get back at Lionkit.
One day after Lionkit had been particularly cruel, Snakekit tricked him into almost eating some deathberries. Snakekit didn't know what they would do, he had only heard the medicine cat telling his apprentice that he must never use them. Just as Lionkit was about to gobble them up Thunderstrike came upon them and berated Snakekit so furiously that the tiny kit ran out into the forest to hide.
Alone in a jumble of rocks, he whimpered, cursed his brother and tried to think of a way to earn his father's love. He heard a rustling in the rocks and saw a Snake's head emerge. He decided that he would bring the snake back to camp as his first fresh-kill, then all the clan would be impressed. He was barely a third of the snake's size and it bit into his shoulder. Before the snake could finish him, ThunderClan warriors arrived and drove it off.
Snakekit spent a month of his kit years in the medicine cat's den, sick from poison, stewing in anger, embarrassment and jealousy and terrified that for this he would not be made an apprentice. Having lots of free time to think he decided to stop trying to earn the affection of a father who did not want to give it. He would make his own way in the clan, he would be alone and earn his own pride, forsaking his family.
Fortune: I am excited about this kitty because I really don't know what will happen to him. I'm just gonna play it by ear and see what opportunities present themselves to him.
