RiverClan Camp

The RiverClan camp is located in the undergrowth surrounding the Mourning Lake, on the eastern side. To reach the camp a cat must wind its way thought the dense growth and pass through the camp wall. The wall is formed of intertwined branches, leaves and even small living trees with a base of stones to make it strong and defensible. The camp is protected from intruders by the undergrowth and wall. It is protected from the elements by the thick greenery surrounding it. Inside the camp it becomes muddy in newleaf, stays cool and damp in greenleaf, stays warm but dry in leaffall and the ground freezes in leafbare. The dens inside the camp are made by cats from mud, stones, branches and leaves and are built around small natural depressions and between over hangings of roots. In the center of the camp there is a large flat stone that acts as the Highstone, a place for meetings within the clan.

WindClan Camp

The WindClan Camp is located next to one of the biggest waterfalls on the white river. A small corpse of trees stretches down in a line from the mountains, and at the end of this line is the waterfall. Rushing, foaming white water hurls itself off a steep and sudden cliff. The only way across is to jump across two jutting spears of slippery rock. Across from the river from the trees is the WindClan camp. The camp is unique in that it is located inside a shallow depression on a hill. The hill is very steep, rising up towards the mountains, a cat must climb its steep grassy slope to reach the camp and the river at this point. At the top of the hill there is a sandy depression, ringed with long grasses and brambles. It is here that the cats of WindClan make their home. The Camp is very easily defended, and invader can easily be seen across the wide grassy plains before they can even begin to make their way up the steep hill, with the defenders looking down on them. The dens in the camp are made of brambles and holes dug into the floor of the camp. Near the camp entrance the hill juts a bit into the hollow and it is here that the leader may address the clan. In Newleaf the camp is protected and cool, In Greenleaf the sand warms like hot stone, in Leaffall it is cool and windy and in Leafbare it is full of snow but protected from the elements.

ThunderClan Camp

In the southern GreenWood lies the ThunderClan camp. Basically the camp is a small clearing among broad trees. The floor of the camp is made of soft dirt, having been cleared of moss to make a proper camp floor. The camp wall is composed of vines, brambles, and wound tree limbs. It makes a dense barrier wound around the close standing trees at the clearing's edge. Only one tree actually stands inside the camp. An old redwood tree protrudes into the southern edge of camp, its overhanging limbs provide shelter and its roots provide dens. A large limb from the tree also gives the clan a prime spot for clan meetings. A cat who climbs to the top of the redwood can see all the way to the Dystopia and the Mountains, as well as a clear view of the forest. Most of the dens in the camp are formed of hollowed out ground beneath roots, or fallen trees or shallow caves dug into the soft ground. In Greenleaf the camp is beautiful and green. In newleaf the leaves return to the trees quickly, but the camp floor soaks up rain quickly, making for a muddy floor. In leaffall the camp is red as fire and piles of leaves fall into the camp. In leafbare snow piles high in and around the camp.

ShadowClan Camp

The White River rushes down a steep, rocky gorge from its source in the mountains. The southern edge of the gorge is less steep but twice as treacherous. Spray from the river makes the sharp rocks slippery and dangerous. The Northern edge of the gorge is steep, almost a cliff and the land ends abruptly at the edge of the Great Wood. Inside one of the toes of the mountains, a hollow mound of mountain directly above the beginning of the northern edge of the gorge is the ShadowClan Camp. The camp entrance is narrow but once inside, the system of caves that make up the camp are cozy but roomy. The cave has a sandy floor and rocky walls. The short tunnel from the entrance leads to a large open cave, from this area multiple smaller caves branch off. The cave is protected from all the elements and stays warm all year round, heated by warm air traveling up from deep inside the mountains. The Caves are easily defended and held against invaders.

Mourning Lake

This huge tree-shrouded lake rests peacefully among white sand shores. The lake is rarely the subject of storms and is a valuable source of clean water for the cats. Water for the lake comes down cold and pure from the mountains via the White River. Named for its sweet silver mists, gentle weeping waves and the subtle cries of mourning doves that echo across its blue surface, the lake inspires an aching feeling of beauty and peace. The lake is full of fish and provides water to all kinds of prey. Around the lake is a dense growth of small trees and prickly bushes that hide lots of small prey that completely surrounds the lake. The lake rests just south of the Dystopia, and at the edge of the mountains.

Winged Fields

One of the last thriving lands before the Dystopia, the Winged Fields rest to the east of the Mountains, to the south and west of the Dystopia, and to the north of the Star Lake and Green Wood. These large grassy fields extend across the White River and to the feet of the mountains. Here the land is rough and rocky, the soil is dry and treacherous and holds many brambles. The land gradually slopes up into the mountains in gentle, sloping hills. This land is inhabited by vast colonies of gophers and other tunneling prey. On the other side of the river the land is lush and shines green with long healthy grasses. The land is almost completely flat and a cat can see for miles in any direction. The land begins to slope upward as it nears the White River and the WindClan Camp. Herds of large herbivores often range across the fields grazing, which means large predators may follow. However the long grasses provide much shelter to cats. The vegetation also hides large amounts of prey. Rabbits, mice, small birds and much more all make their home among the grass.

Star Lake

The Star Lake is about half the size of the Mourning Lake, but it is much much deeper. The water in the lake is a deep velvety blue, even during sun high, because the lake drops down in steep cliffs to an impenetrable bottom. The Lake resides at the edges of the Winged Fields, and the GreenWood, making it a hotly debated territory between WindClan and ThunderClan. Long, soft rushes surround the lake and are rooted into the water at its edges. Many fish, small and large, swim in its depths, making this lake a valuable food source. Lots of small prey also make their homes on the lake's shore, another source of food. At the southernmost edge of the lake, weeping willows trail gracefully in a flowery curtain along its only shallow shore. Here, among the curtains of willows, there is a large, sandy circle of stones. At the center of the circle is a wide flat stone. It is here, on every full moon, that the clans meet for a gathering. This spot cannot be claimed, it neutral, but the rest of the lake can be.

Storm Mountains

Every night the sun goes to rest behind the Storm Mountains. They are vast forbidding castles of rock. They stretch all along the western side of the clan lands, and go up so high they almost touch the clouds. The mountains are rocky but stable, few landslides have ever been seen. They are mostly made of rock, with only sparse lichen and grasses and little tree cover. The are the home of innumerable caves and dens, a cat could hide forever in their rocky slopes. The mountains are not particularly steep at the bottom. Gradually the become steeper and steeper until at the top they are nothing but cliffs. The mountains are home to lot's of prey but hunting in them requires much skill. Large animals like wild goats make their home here but so does prey like weasels, birds, mice and hares. Small streams or trickles of water spring from hidden crevices and wind their way down their rocky slopes all year round. The mountains have few large storms but were given their name because on the night the cats found their new home, lightening over the mountains lit up the land around to show the cats their new home.

The Dystopia

The Dystopia surrounds the living lands on all sides, and the cats had to travel through it during their search for a new home. Many lost their lives, because the Dystopia is a dead land. The ground is rocky and dry. In Greenleaf it is clogged with dust and grit that works its way to stay inside of a cat's mouth, fur, ears and nose. In leafbare and leaffall, the ground freezes into cutting edges of icy rock. In newleaf when it rains the ground is clogged with mud and waste, and little drinkable water can be found. There is very little vegetation. The land cannot support many plants so the few ones there are are small, weak and colorless. There is very little opportunity for hunting here, all the prey has moved to the living lands in search of food. The land stretches on forever as a flat, barren wasteland. The only break in the dull grey landscape is the oasis of the living lands. No cat can survive here...or so it is believed by the clans. This is the place where cats with a grey pelt are banished to. Some of these cats have learned its secrets and so call it home. There are hard to find secrets everywhere, small pockets of drinking water, hunting grounds, dens, and plants can be found by those who are forced to live here, and some choose to remain. For them it is a livable abet harsh land, where they can find sanctuary from the hate of the clans.

GreenWood

Perhaps the most plentiful piece of territory in the living lands is the GreenWood. The forest is composed mostly of deciduous trees with some coniferous. The trees are relatively young and their strong, tough limbs reach for the sky in a myraid of leaves and shades. Dappled shadows criss-cross the mossy forest floor and flicker among the roots of the trees. The forest grows to the east of the river, to the Dystopia, and from the edge of the Winged Fields to the end of the Willow Marsh. Numerous species of small prey live within the woods, making it a prime spot for hunting. However, wolves, bears, foxes and other dangers to cats also live here. The forest also boasts many valuable herbs for a medicine cat. Inside the Forest is one of the wonders of the clans new home; The Moon Circle. An almost perfect circle filled with white sand, the Moon Circle rests in the middle of the GreenWood. No cats come here, some say its cursed. For on night when the sky is clear and the stars shine bright, some cats claim to have seen weird sights, as if from dreams. The large trees of the GreenWood protect the ground from the fiercest of the elements but snow piles high here in Leafbare, the leaves form fiery carpets with rustling prey in leaffall, in greenleaf there is an abundance of prey and in newleaf prey returns quickly.

Great Wood

Across the river from GreenWood lurks the dark majesty of the Great Wood. This forest rests at the feet of the mountains and starts at the end of the High Hills. Halfway through it is broken by a narrow gorge, down which the White River flows out from the mountains. The Forest of Great Wood is old, immeasurably old. The gnarled trees stand close packed, blocking out sunlight and casting the forest floor in shadow. The forest is made of mostly coniferous trees, and their prickly needles make climbing the immense limbs a risky undertaking. The trees of the forest are huge, stretching dark limbs up as if to touch the sky. Their bark is gnarled and tough as rock and their roots arch above the ground. Small prey live in abundance here but so do predators. Foxes, badgers, snakes, and even the occasional wolf or bear can be found here, and pose a threat to any cat. However the forest holds the most abundance of herbs than any other part of the living lands. Any herb a medicine cat could wish for can be found here. Just remain on your guard.

Willow Marsh

At the southern end of the White River, the water's fury is depleted and the water trails off aimlessly into hundreds of small streams and brooks. The Marsh acts as a border to separate the GreenWood from Great Wood. As the Marsh extends south it becomes shallower and its fan of streams end, leaving only soggy ground until the Dystopia. The mossy and reedy ground is forever soaked in water and becomes, almost, a small lake during floods. The ground is deceiving and what might seem like flat, abet boggy, land, may in fact be a sudden drop off steep enough to send a cat plunging into murky water. An abundance of herbs grow here among reeds, lilies, and of course, willow trees. Willow trees are everywhere to be seen. They drape their limbs into the still pools of water, and onto the boggy ground. During newleaf the marsh is full of their blossoms. Lots of fish, voles, and frogs can be found here for prey, but cats must be wary of loosing their footing, and prepared to get wet.
